The company
How we work.
Every specification we issue is prepared for a single property, following a survey, by the person who will install it. This page sets out what that involves, and what it requires from you.
The difficulty with packages
Most domestic security companies sell tiers: bronze, silver and gold. They are straightforward to price, to advertise, and to train staff to sell. They are also, from the client’s perspective, of limited value, because each tier is constructed around an average property that does not exist.
Two homes on the same street can present entirely different risk profiles. One has a rear lane and a flat garage roof accessible from a bin store; the other is overlooked on three sides with no rear access at all. Sold the same package, the first is exposed precisely where it matters and the second has paid for detection it never required.
Our alternative
We survey first, in every case, at our own cost. We then prepare a specification for that property alone. It takes longer, and it means we quote on considerably fewer projects in a year than a company working from a price list. It is also the reason the company exists.
Bespoke does not mean expensive
This is the most frequent misunderstanding, so it is worth stating plainly: a tailored specification is frequently less costly than a package, because it prevents you from purchasing measures you do not need. What it does mean is that we cannot provide a figure by email. Any company able to quote for a domestic security system without seeing the property is quoting for a package.
The seven stages
Your enquiry
Through the form on this website. It reaches our team directly, and a member of it will reply, normally within one working day. There is no call centre, and no subsequent marketing contact.
An initial exchange
Usually by email, so that we understand the property before anyone travels, and so that a secure channel can be agreed before you provide any specific detail.
The survey
At no charge, and at a time convenient to the household. We assess the property as someone attempting to enter it would, and we ask a number of questions about routine. It takes an hour or two, and it is not a sales visit.
The written proposal
Normally within five working days. Our findings, our recommendations and the reasoning behind them, anything we advise against, costed options with our recommendation identified, and a phased plan where the full scheme is not sensible at once.
Revision
We expect the proposal to change. Clients routinely remove items, add items or defer a phase, and we reissue accordingly. This is a discussion rather than a tender response.
Installation and handover
Carried out by us, and worked around the household. Cabling run properly, penetrations made good, and the property left as we found it. We then demonstrate the system to every occupant and provide full documentation.
The years that follow
Scheduled servicing, priority attendance in the event of a fault, and an annual review. Households change — an extension, a dog, a child old enough to return to an empty house — and a system that is never revisited gradually ceases to fit.
What we require from you
Very little, and none of it before the survey. It is most helpful if whoever understands how the household actually operates can accompany us for twenty minutes; that conversation is worth considerably more than any floor plan.
- Access to the property, including its less convenient corners
- Somebody who knows the daily routine and its exceptions
- Any insurance conditions, or landlord or listed-building restrictions
- Details of existing equipment, where available
- A realistic sense of budget, which shapes the options rather than the advice
You will not be asked for property details, existing system information or any other sensitive material over ordinary email. A secure channel is agreed before such matters are discussed.
